Visitation/Communion Ministry Group to Form
Several GCC members have expressed an interest in forming a group to provide visitation and communion to those church members who are unable to attend services. These recipients may be in a nursing home, hospital, prison, convalescing at home, or unable to attend for other physically limiting reasons. We would provide this ministry on request and/or offer it when it appears appropriate. We will operate under the guidance of the Pastor and the Diaconate, and by coordinating with committees engaging in other outreach ministries. If you are interested in joining us, please call (or leave a message) with John Walsh 528-4768.

Message from Pastor Michael Graham...
Churches come in a variety of shapes and sizes; what makes each place unique is the people gathered.
Churches are one of the few institutions where people of all ages play an important role. We share life toge
ther and make the passage from childhood to adulthood in the presence of others. How wonderful it is to make the passage through life with people who care for you. I love the intergenerational flavor of the Gilford Community Church; where young and old regularly come together, where children aren’t spoken "to" but are invited to join in the wonderful conversation of faith. The enthusiasm of our children, the idealism of our youth and young adults, and the wisdom of our elders, all blend together to make this a vibrant, hope-filled community.

Gilford Community Church Congregation to Temporarily Move Sunday Worship
Church Will Hold Worship at Elementary School January-June
Beginning on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the regular worship time of 10:00 am, our Sunday services will temporarily be held at the Gilford Elementary School located at 76 Belknap Mountain Road. This relocation is necessary due to the construction as it involves the expansion of our existing sanctuary.
The school will be our home for Sunday services and Sunday School until the new sanctuary is ready for us to return around June 1, 2009.
Our current facility will remain intact from the connector hall, (the hall in front of the church offices), through the Wixson Community Center. The offices will remain unchanged and open at their regular hours of
9 am to 3 pm. Our Village Nursery School and After School Program will function as they always have. The Mason Room, Youth Room and classrooms across from the Village After School Program are available to schedule for meetings.
The First Methodist Church of Gilford has offered their sanctuary in case we need sanctuary space for a funeral. There are no weddings scheduled until our sanctuary is re-opened. All other groups who currently use our church have been contacted about space that will be available to them during this period, and of course, they will return to our facility when construction is completed.
School officials are making the cafeteria, library, and several other rooms available to meet our needs in accommodating all our classes, pre-school through Confirmation. There will be plenty of parking at the school and all areas will be plowed and shoveled should it snow. We will enter the building through the main school entrance adjacent to the parking lot and make our way down the hall and into the cafeteria. Here we will find our greeters, ushers, choir, Michael and friends, as usual. There will be plenty of seating as all of the tables in the cafeteria transform into pews that are comfortable (though firm). We intend to continue our fellowship hour after each service with coffee, punch and light snacks.
If you have any questions about this temporary move, please contact myself or the church office. See you there!

For each $10.00 donation, we will recognize your loved one in the bulletin on Christmas Sunday.
Please see the December newsletter or your Sunday bulletin for the form you need to fill out. Please submit the form to the office by Wednesday, December 17th.
Christmas Baskets for Our Neighbors in Need
The Outreach Committee is organizing the Christmas food baskets. We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food (canned goods, cereals, pasta) for the next few weeks.
Please bring all your donations to the south foyer of the church and place them in front of the doors that used to lead to the outside.
All food will be sorted on December 19th from 9am to noon. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.
Baskets picked up on December 20th from 9 am to noon.
We realize that times are difficult for everybody, but we would appreciate any help you give us this year! Contact Doreen Waitt if you can help. 293-9143.
Input from the Expansion Committee
The Expansion Committee closes the year 2007 with the town permitting process completed. We feel we have an exterior design for the expanded church and the youth facility that meets the tests of “does it properly fit in our neighborhood?” and, from your thoughtful comments, the taste of our congregation.
